Relieved of my Duties
Last night on April 29, 2008, I had a strange feeling, a feeling that something is going happen but not seriously bad, I was unable to to get enough sleep. Slept around 3am in the morning. Then, when I reported to work, somebody from the Records Section of our Office knocked at the door of IT Department and handed me a memorandum stating: "In the exigency of the service, you are hereby directed to report to your original station, Sta. Ana District Office, effective immediately. In this connection, you are hereby relieved of your duties and responsibilities as MIS In Charge of the Division Office. You are hereby directed to clear yourself of money and property accountability and turn over the User Administration Account (HRIS, Division Website, etc.) to the new MIS In Charge. It is expected that there shall be full disclosure of passwords and other confidential information relative to the MIS Office. You are further prohibited from interfering directly or indirectly in the MIS operations. Any violations of this prohibition shall be dealt with administratively by this Office. Corollarily, your role in the Division Inspectorate Team is likewise terminated." One thing I could say is, I wasn't given any due process or explanation on why I was relieved, I wasn't given a chance or hint to defend or clear myself, from any allegations or misbehaviors if ever I have committed, at least I could be aware of. After all the hard work of establishing the IT Department, with sweat blood and tears, making the division website get a pagerank of 4 out of 10, making it known worldwide, THIS IS WHAT I GET? Oh my goodness! I must admit, I myself have my share of shortcomings and I can't please anyone, but never in my wildest dreams left my work undone. I hate office politics! (makes me sick to my stomach) In fact I have to many things to think of; managing the Server Gateways, Network Connections, Internet Availability, Helpdesk issues (where users seem to take IT for granted), I'm always feeling burned out, I always come to the office late, I'm all alone managing the IT Infrastructure, but now, there is only one person left to manage the IT Department I hope he does not burn out like me, being overworked, well, they can't blame me if I'm strict with them, they only end up testing and wasting my patience. Because the purpose of having an internet is not to serve their personal needs but rather the needs of the Division Office on Official Duties only, I find it really hard to explain technical matters it in layman (pea brain) terms, and yet some individuals resort to insisting, backstabbing, or perhaps give negative impressions or feedbacks which I find it very unprofessional. Besides I'm not their type (hehehe..) kidding!. Nevertheless! I try to be more civil in dealing with matters related to my line of work. I do hope things will be settled amicably. |
